Jesus is the Only Answer – Interesting A-Z list from Philippians 4:5-7

Anxiety, fear, and worry have subtly ingrained in the hearts of people throughout the history of mankind. And there’s no exceptions in the contemporary world. Eric Sevareid, a well-known journalist, once said that: “The biggest big business in America is not steel, automobiles, or television. It is the manufacture, refinement and distribution of anxiety.”

    在所有人類的歷史中，焦燥、恐懼及憂慮長久以來已經悄然地深植在人們的心中。在現代社會裡，沒有一個例外。著名的新聞記者艾睿克，施菲瑞曾說：「美國最大的大事業，不是鋼鐵、汽車或電視，而是焦燥的製造、冶煉及發配。

As an eager willing participant, the profit-driven, rating-hungry media is notoriously well known for “leads with what bleeds” kind of sensationalized reporting. Such as constantly reports the Coronavirus’ infection case and death toll increases, but seldom mentioned the death rate was less than one percent and the recovery rate was high.

    媒體是這事業一積極的參與者，基於想要贏得好評、追逐盈利的心態，並且本就以「由讓人淌血的事件著手」而惡名昭彰的媒體，致力於傳播引發人激情的報導。諸如一直不斷報導的冠狀病毒的感染病例及死亡人數的增加，卻很少提及因此病毒而逝的死亡率小於百分之一，病患且有高復原率。

The current Coronavirus pandemic has vividly provided an epic illustration of the anxiety-phobia right before our very eyes. Some even claimed that the anxiety-related death has now surpassed that of automobile fatalities.

    目前全球性傳染的冠狀病毒，清晰地呈現在我們的眼前一長幅恐焦症的描繪。甚至有人宣稱：因焦燥而導致死亡的，已經遠超過因車禍而死的數目。

The Bible has much to say about this subject from Genesis to Revelation. With his omniscient foresight, Jesus addressed this often, ranked right up there with the subject of money, hell, heaven and his second coming. Apostles also amplified the same teachings throughout the books of the New Testament. Two texts quoted below:

    聖經從創世記到啟示錄講了很多有關這主題的論述。因著耶穌無所不知的先見之明，祂常常提及這議題，與金錢、地獄、天堂及祂的再臨等主題同列。使徒們在新約中也強調同樣的教導。下面引用兩段記載：

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:5-7

These two passages must have been written about and preached on thousands of times by probably every pastor and Bible teacher throughout our church history.

With time on hand while being quarantined by the government order, I put my finger to work, jotting down my own reflections on it. Trying to challenge myself to put down something new, interesting, and worthwhile, I’ve compiled, with help from others, an A-to-Z point-counterpoint phrase of “Jesus is the Answer” list. To make it more challenging, I decided that each pair of phrases must start with the same alphabet. Here it is:
