Admission Requirements

Applicants should be born-again Christians with a mature Christian character. They should have been serving competently in the local church, and are highly recommended by their church pastors and elders.

Those who are applying to study the degree and diploma programs should hold a bachelor¡¦s degree from an accredited university, college or Bible college, or its academic equivalent.

All applicants should understand Mandarin, which is our major medium of instruction for classes. They should be proficient reading and writing Chinese. Reading knowledge of English reference books is highly desirable. TOEFL scores are requested for assessment.


Applicaton Procedures

Applicants should complete their application procedures before the beginning of the academic year. The following should be submitted:*

  1. A completed application form. Forms can be obtained from the CWTS Admissions Office or through the seminary website.
  2. A non-refundable application fee of $35.00.
  3. A copy of the college or university degree.
  4. A full academic transcript or transcripts obtained from colleges, universities and seminaries. These should be sent directly from the academic institutions to CWTS.
  5. Testimonies of the applicant's conversion experience, and the call to the ministry, each about 500 words in length.
  6. Two letters of recommendations.
  7. A document certifying the applicant's financial status.**
  8. A health certificate.**
  9. Two recent passport photographs.
* Applicants for San Jose programs must also submit their TOFEL scores (above 500 required), unless they are graduates of U.S. colleges/universities.
** Not required of applicants for San Jose programs.

CWTS operates with the semester system. Application deadline is June 30 for the new academic year. Extra time is necessary to process the application from foreign students, so early application is advised. For forms and information, please contact the Admissions Office.


Foreign Students

Foreign students including those from Canada must complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances in addition to standard application forms.

CWTS will issue I-20 forms to successful applicants who will use those to apply for visas at the American Consulate.

Foreign students must be enrolled in at least twelve credit hours per semester to qualify for student status with F-1 visas.


Placement Test

All new students are required to take a placement test upon arrival at CWTS. This test consists of three parts: Bible, Basic Doctrines and English.
